I felt as though this was what I was destined to become...

I heated the long piece of steel in the roaring fire of the forge. With hammer in hand, I hammered the piece to a point, cut off the excess, and sharpened the blade on my bench grinder...

Okay, so it wasn't the coolest looking knife, and it was definitely not functional. However, that day is one I'll never forget.

In the October of 2013, I fell in love with the hammer and anvil

My name is

Rebel

I am a bladesmith

I live in Austin, Texas, and work in the tool shed corner. It is dusty, not insulated, and home to too many wasps to count. I enjoy the desert heat and aggressive bugs that Texas has to offer every day. I'm 17, so I only get the morning hours to make things before school. Regardless, I love designing and making knives that are practical, comfortable in the hand, and appealing to the eye.

I didn't start taking it seriously until March in 2015, which is when I made my first knife after months of reading all I could on making knives from wherever I could. I designed it, forged it, shaped it, beveled it, and even quenched it. Even though it warped and broke from a bad quench, I knew this was exactly what I wanted to dedicate my time to. Since that first knife, I have improved greatly in design, technique, and sharpening, slowly learning more as I go. I favor Japanese bladesmithing, and Murray Carter, the 17th Yoshimoto bladesmith, is my greatest source of knowledge and inspiration.
